The state of California has one of the strictest laws in the US. If you find yourself charged with a crime in California, you should familiarize yourself with the laws so that you can properly defend your case. We'll talk about attacking and striking and explain the differences and similarities between the two.

Assault and battery are two very similar charge types, but there are a few characteristics that differentiate them. According to the letter of the law, California defines assault as a charge that involves a threat and can be made between 2 or more parties. Non-contact threats are generally considered assault. However, there is a gray area where, for example, spitting on someone is only considered assault, and not battery that involves physical contact. Victims of assault can press charges if they believe they are at risk of harm.

Assault And Battery Difference

As stated earlier, battery is basically an "attack on steroids". For example, if a person shoots directly at another person and hits them, it is considered a hit. Photos of victims are commonly used as evidence for beatings and can lead to higher fines.

What Is The Difference Between Assault And Battery In California?

Both assault and battery can be considered a misdemeanor if they are minor and do not cause significant harm and/or do not require extensive medical attention. Such cases usually avoid jail time and fines. However, if the victim's assault and battery injuries are significant and require medical attention, the penalty can be significantly increased. The most severe punishment for assault and battery is when there is intent to kill and a deadly weapon is used. Such criminal charges usually result in lengthy prison terms, especially for repeat offenders.

An accused criminal arrested for assault and/or battery is charged in the usual manner. They will be taken into custody and then brought before a judge to set a date for their hearing and more information about their bail and court date. People charged with assault and/or battery should make every effort to get out of jail as soon as possible, contact an attorney, and gather evidence to defend their case or plead guilty. A deal would be the best outcome. However, getting out of jail should be a priority when arrested on such charges.

Assault and battery are two crimes that are often treated together, but they are separate crimes with different elements. Although modern jurisdictions often combine assault and battery into a single statute called assault, the crimes are still separate and often classified differently. The Model Penal Code defines both crimes as simple and aggravated assault (Model Penal Code § 211.1). However, the Model Penal Code does not distinguish between assault and battery for purposes of classification. This section examines the elements of both offences, including potential defences.

Battery is a crime that has the elements of criminal act, criminal intent, present circumstances, causation, and harm, as described in the following subsections.

Assault, Robbery, Rape, And Other Crimes Against The Person

In most jurisdictions, an element of criminal liability for battery is unlawful touching, often described as physical contact (720 ILCS § 12-3, 2011). This element of the crime is what distinguishes assault from battery, although a person can be convicted of both crimes if they commit separate acts backed by reasonable intent. The accused may touch the victim with an instrument, such as pointing a gun at the victim, or may hit the victim with a thrown object, such as a rock or bottle. The accused may also touch the victim with a vehicle, knife or substance, such as spitting on the victim or spraying the victim with a hose.

Consider the example from Chapter 1 of Introduction to Criminal Law, where Chris, a newly hired employee at McDonald's, spills hot coffee on the hand of his customer, Jeff. Although Chris did not touch Jeff with any part of his body, he threw a substance that touched him illegally.

Depending on the jurisdiction, battery requires an element of criminal intent. In early common law, battery was intentional or knowing touching. Most states follow the common law approach and require specific intent or purpose, or general intent or knowledge (Fla. Stat. Ann. § 784.03, 2011). among others, reckless intent (K.S.A. § 21-3412, 2011) or reckless intent (R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-5-2.2, 2011). Lawsuits involving negligence or reckless intent usually require actual bodily injury, serious bodily injury, or the use of a deadly weapon. Model Penal Code is required for intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing bodily injury to another person or negligently "causing bodily injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon" (Model Penal Code § 211.1(1) (b)). If there is willful negligence

Chris touching Jeff with the hot coffee can be proven reckless because Chris is a new employee and may not be aware of the danger of spilling coffee while working at the same time. If the situation in which Chris's spell occurs does not involve reckless intent in the battery statute, Chris is likely to

, Chris will not be prosecuted for battery unless the coffee causes severe burns to Jeff's hand; Hot coffee cannot kill and cannot be considered a lethal weapon.

A corollary to the condition in most jurisdictions for striking is that the touching occur without a victim

. Thus, under some circumstances, the victim's consent may serve as a waiver of evidence or an affirmative defense.

Assault And Battery Examples - Assault and battery are two crimes that are often prosecuted together, but they are separate crimes with different elements. Although modern jurisdictions often combine assault and battery into a single statute called assault, the crimes are separate and are often classified separately. The Criminal Code defines both simple and serious assault (Criminal Code § 211.1). In the Criminal Code, however, no distinction is made between assault and assault for written purposes. This section examines both cases, including potential defenses.

Battery is a crime that includes felony, criminal intent, aiding and abetting, and causing injury as discussed in the following paragraphs.

Assault And Battery Examples

Assault And Battery Examples

The most common crime for battery is unlawful touching, often called contact (720 ILCS § 12-3, 2011). It is this crime that distinguishes assault from assault, although a person can be convicted of both crimes if the contrary is made with valid motive. The accused may hold the victim with a weapon, such as shooting the victim with a gun, or may strike the victim with a thrown object, such as a rock or bottle. The accused may also touch the victim with a car, knife or object, such as spitting on the victim or spraying the victim with a hose.

Crimes Against Persons

Remember from Chapter 1 "Introduction to Criminal Law" the example where Chris, a new employee at McDonald's, poured hot coffee into his hand on his customer Geoff. Although Chris did not touch Geoff with any part of his body, he poured something that touched Geoff illegally

The criminal intent required for battery varies by location. In the original law the battery was effective or known. Most states follow a common law approach and require actual or intentional intent, or general or knowing intent (Fla. Stat. Ann. § 784.03, 2011). Others include reckless intent (K.S.A. § 21-3412, 2011) or reckless intent (R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-5-2.2, 2011). Areas involving negligence or carelessness often require actual injury, serious injury, or the use of a deadly weapon. The Model Penal Code requires intentionally, intentionally, or recklessly to injure another person, or to recklessly “injur another with a deadly weapon” (Model Penal Code § 211.1(1) (b)). If ignoring the goal is

Review Chris and Geoff's example in Episode 10 "Battery Act Examples". Imagine that the scene where Chris poured hot coffee into Geoff's hands happened when Chris was trying to do more and give updates while pouring the coffee. Chris's actions in touching Geoff with the hot coffee can be supported by a reckless motive because Chris is a new employee and may not be aware of the danger of spilling coffee by doing too much. If Chris' lost place doesn't include ignoring his battery laws, then Chris probably does.

, Chris will not be charged with battery unless the coffee caused severe burns to Geoff's hand; hot coffee will not kill and may not be considered a lethal weapon.

Difference Between Sexual Assault And Sexual Battery

What is required of battery in most cases is that the touching takes place without the victim.

. Therefore, the victim's consent can act as a failure to testify or an affirmative defense in certain specific situations.

Recall from Chapter 5 "Criminal Defense, Part 1" the scene where Allen fights with Brett at the high school football game, resulting in Brett being seriously injured. Although Allen intentionally touched Brett, resulting in serious injury, Brett consented to the touching by voluntarily participating in a sport where physical contact is necessary.

Assault And Battery Examples

. Therefore, the accessory for the battery is not available and Allen may not charge in this case.

The Tort Of Assault And Battery

In addition to consent, there are defenses and defenses to battery which Chapter 5 "Criminal Defenses, Part 1" and Chapter 6 "Criminal Defenses, Part 2" discuss in detail. To summarize and recap, battery defense is self-defense, protection of property and residence, and lawful arrest of criminals. The basic defense to battery that Chapter 6 "Criminal Defenses, Part 2" discusses is the insanity defense. Another excuse for battery protection is

Between the child and the parent which is often regulated by law and varies from state to state (Kidjacked.com, 2011).

The defendant's claim must be true and valid for the injury, as described in Section 10 "Battery Injuries."

Contact (720 ILCS § 12-3, 2011). Some jurisdictions require actual harm to the victim (Ala. Code § 13A-6-21, 2011). The risk of damage can increase the load, as described in section 10 "Battery calculation".

Review the example in Episode 10 of the "Battery Act Example" where Chris pours hot coffee into Geoff's hands. If Chris and Geoff are in the mood, they need it

To the victim as an item of battery damage, Chris will not be charged in this case unless the hot coffee damages Geoff's hand. If Chris and Geoff are in a situation that allows harm

Contact, Chris can be charged or convicted of battery as long as the substance is present, as described in Section 10 of "Intent of Battery."

Assault And Battery Examples

In the original order, the battery was defective. The Model Penal Code classifies the crime (also known as simple assault) as a misdemeanor unless "a fight or assault has occurred, in which case it is a minor misdemeanor" (Model Penal Code § 211.1(1)). Categories of the Model Penal Code

Aggravated Assault Charges In Arkansas

Battery (also known as aggravated assault), which is battery causing serious injury or bodily harm by means of a deadly weapon, as a felony of the second or third degree (Penal Code § 211.1(2)). Most states follow the Model Penal Code's approach by classifying battery causing emotional distress or physical injury as a misdemeanor (720 ILCS § 12-3, 2011) and battery causing physical injury as a felony or misdemeanor (720 ILCS §12-4, 2011). Additionally, battery committed with a higher intent—such as intent to cause great bodily harm or intent to injure or destroy—is generally more serious (Ala Code § 13A-6-20, 2011). Other aggravated battery charges include use of a weapon (R.I. Gen. Laws § 11-5-2, 2011), battery in the course of employment, or an attempt to commit a serious or violent crime (Ala. Code § § 13A -6-20 , 2011), failure to render assistance to the victim (Wis. Stat § 940.16(6), 2011), and abuse of a teacher (Wis. Stat. § 940.16(5), 2011) or police ( Wis. Stat § 940.20(2) , 2011).

Assault is a crime that has criminal elements and intent. Some types of assault also have an element of causation and injury, which is discussed in section 10 of "Aggravated Battery Injury".

Two types of abuse are recognized. In some areas, assault is an experimental battery. In some areas, assault is a dangerous battery. The Model Penal Code provides for attempted assault and threats (Model Penal Code § 211.1). The details of both types of shocks are discussed in Section 10 "Battery Testing and Battery Damage".

A battery is an assault involving any battery other than physical contact. What counts as battery is a misdemeanor motivated by criminal intent. There is no need to cause or cause harm

Aggravated Assault In Florida: The Law

Mistakes don't have to cause harm. Although attempted battery should allow the same protections and consent as battery, this is not as common in assault as it is with battery, so most laws do not have the problem of lack of victim consent.

Physical contact with the victim but fails for some reason. This could be a thrown object that misses its target, a shot that misses, or a punch that doesn't connect. In some states, the defendant must have the ability to cause harmful or offensive contact, even if the contact did not occur (Cal. Penal Code § 240, 2011). The only possibility here is to extend the rule that crimes must go beyond mere preparation. In most jurisdictions, criminal responsibility is assessed by the Model Penal Code test described in Chapter 7 "Party to Crime" (Commonwealth v. Matthews, 2011). In sum, the battery test requires that the defendant act to complete the battery, and the defendant's actions must be substantially related to the defendant's intent (Penal Code § 5.01).

Also, it seems Diana had the ability to shoot Dan because her gun was loaded. Therefore, Diana can be charged and convicted in the case of

In Texas, assault and battery are considered two different and separate criminal charges.

Texas has no charge specific to the crime of battery. Instead, it charges the battery as a more serious form of attack. The battery can be charged when physical contact results in injury. However, the definition of bodily harm in Texas is extremely broad as it is defined as almost anything that causes pain.

Regardless of whether your alleged crime is assault or battery, the elements needed to beat an assault charge will be the same. However, there are different degrees of attack, the severity of which depends on the nature of the attack. The more serious the assault (or battery), the more serious the assault charge and the more severe the associated sentence.

Bird Strikes On Airplanes - Bird-Airplane Collisions Get Worse / From Canada Geese to Snowy Owls, Airport Bird Collisions Go Nowhere

That's a flight risk that TSA agents can't check: A single bird sucking into a plane's jet engine can cause serious damage that requires an emergency landing or, more rarely, even cause the plane to crash. The incidents, known as "bird strikes," are surprisingly common, with an estimated 10,760 strikes at US airports in 2012 alone. But despite ongoing efforts to curb the spread of bird strikes, experts warn they are likely to become more common - and when it comes to strikes of some species, this winter could be particularly harsh.

Bird Strikes On Airplanes

Bird Strikes On Airplanes

Unfortunately for birds and airline passengers, bird species are often attracted to the wide open spaces that characterize airports. "Birds that show up at airports are usually looking for three things: water, shelter and food," says Archie Dickey, dean of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's College of Arts and Sciences, who also created the FAA's database to document bird strikes. . "So an airport would probably seem like an ideal environment for them."

Air India Flight Collides With Bird At Takeoff In Raipur, Returns To Runaway

When a bird flies its beak into an airplane engine, the risk to passengers ranges from zero to severe. Sometimes, Dickey says, the bird is "properly stuck" by the engine's fan blades and continues on its journey as usual. A cluster of relatively serious incidents account for more than 1,000 emergency landings or delayed takeoffs per year. In many other rare cases, such as the infamous landing on the Hudson River in 2009 – attributed to canada goose outlet uk being sucked into both of the plane’s engines – the danger can become a matter of life or death. More than 200 aircraft have been destroyed in bird strikes since 1988, and a recent study estimates that around 200 people have died in bird-related accidents during that time.

In an effort to reduce these accidents, aviation authorities have stepped up their strategies in recent years to prevent birds from flying off runways. Several airports, including major airports such as New York's John F. Kennedy International and Chicago's O'Hare International, employ full-time biologists to monitor local bird populations and manage flocks, while others contract with wildlife consulting firms. . Wildlife biologists monitor bird populations with radar and then use "harassment strategies" to scare them away. The most common approaches include noise generators, lasers and pyrotechnics, but some airports play the sounds of frightened birds or predators. "The problem is that birds are smarter than you think," says Hickey. "I guess they're used to a lot of things we throw at them."

When traditional efforts don't work, experts make changes to the airfield's environment—removing standing water, destroying common bird prey, and reducing the availability of perch-friendly hills—in an effort to make the habitat less desirable. When all else fails, they resort to deadly tactics. For example, following the 2009 Hudson River disaster, New York airport authorities killed hundreds of geese on several occasions to prevent them from approaching the city's airport. That approach sparked controversy last week when wildlife biologists at JFK were authorized to shoot and kill two snowy owls -- huge birds with a 5-foot wingspan -- that would fly into the plane. Shortly after the uproar, officials announced plans to capture and relocate the birds instead, citing a desire to "strike a balance between humane management of bird populations at and around agency airports to protect the thousands of passengers on board every day."

However, finding such a balance can become increasingly difficult. As for snowy owls, experts warn that more of them can be expected around some U.S. airports this winter, largely because of a population boom that has pushed some snowy owls out of their original Arctic habitat. "They breed in the Arctic hundreds of kilometers from the tree," says ornithologist Kevin McGowan of Cornell University. "They come to the South for a variety of reasons, and when they come, they're more familiar with these open spaces at the airports." This year, McGowan says, birds have been pushed out of the Arctic in surprising numbers - and airport authorities aren't quite sure what to do about it. "Approaches that work with other birds don't work with these guys," he says. "It's not easy to scare them, they couldn't care less about people."

Bird Strike Rates Estimated As Number Of Bird–aircraft Collisions Per...

Changes in bird populations and aircraft flight schedules also keep airport authorities on their toes. Thanks in large part to improved conservation efforts, birds that often bother airports — including Canada geese, great blue herons and bald eagles — have seen population increases in recent years. Hickey notes that air traffic also continues to grow, making planes quieter and therefore harder for birds to spot. "Helicopters or older models were very noisy," he says. "Quiet planes may be good for neighbors who want less noise, but not exactly good for bird strikes." Since reporting bird strikes to the FAA is optional, travelers looking for the safest flight option can carefully check the agency's database, Hickey says. "An airport that shows no strikes is probably one of the worst in terms of bird management," he says. "The responsible airport will report everything." Bird strikes cost airlines worldwide more than $1 billion a year. Although most of them are said to be harmless, we cannot rule out the danger they pose to the aircraft.

The ability to soar into the sky has to be one of the greatest achievements of humans. But who would have thought that our feathered peers would be the main threat in flight, which gave rise to the idea of amazing engineering. Bird strikes are still considered one of the most serious threats to aviation worldwide. The infamous engine failure of a US Airways plane that had to land in the Hudson River was evidence that two geese had managed to damage two of the plane's engines.

Bird Strikes On Airplanes

The ICAO survey, including data from 91 countries, found that airlines face an average of 34 bird strikes per day. The monetary damages amount to more than 1 billion dollars per year. But the reassuring fact is that 92 percent of the raids were without injuries.

O'hare News: United Flight 1930 Hits Bird Shortly After Taking Off From Airport; Witnesses Report Engine Fire

Most modern engines should be able to eat birds weighing around 1.8kg when running at full power. They want to do this during the initial rate of climb without flaring or shutting down the engine. In addition, a minimum of 50 percent performance is required up to 14 minutes after the impact. This means that even if both engines hit large birds, it may provide a combined thrust of at least one engine that is insufficient to return to the airport.

Now there are some clear solutions. For example, netting seems to be the cheapest solution to the bird strike problem. However, a food net is also a big risk. At high speed, a 1.8 kg bird has a force of about 3,50,000 N, which can damage the net and has a high risk of entering the engine.

Among the solutions that worked against the bird strike problem, a Purdue University study found that aircraft painted in dark colors attract more birds, making them more likely to crash. The contrasting bright hue of the body blends in with the sky and helps the bird avoid flight.

Adding to the list of solutions is a study by Japanese carrier ANA, which found that jet engine helicopters can be an effective way to deter birds from aircraft. To this end, 26 Boeing aircraft in the carrier fleet carried engine designs. Surprisingly, the method worked. The patterned plane recorded just one birdie hit against traditional 9s in the same period.

Pilot Lands Safely After Bird Strike Destroys Plane's Nose

The location of the airport also plays a big role in the number of dangerous birds on the runway. For example, rather than the number of incidents at London Airport, we can consider the number of bird strikes at Munich Airport. The main driving factor that differentiates them is location. Munich Airport, which is located on a relatively large plot of land, attracts more birds. Meanwhile, the airport in London

Blue Angel Airplanes - You'll often see the Blue Angels performing at air shows around the country. This team of aircraft takes formation flying to a whole new level. You may be surprised to know that the Blue Angels don't necessarily call you "new". They've been around for a while! Today we take a look at the history of Blue Angels aircraft and where you can discover a piece of history for yourself.

The Blue Angels are one of the world's premier military aerobatic teams. They currently fly the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. Blue angles are traditionally composed of six planes. In its current form, it is flown by five Navy pilots and one Marine Corps pilot.

Although you may see Blue Angels flying extremely fast and modern fighter jets, this was not always the case. The Blue Angels also flew propeller planes and aircraft much smaller than current craft.

. It was originally designed to display aircraft and gain public support for the Navy. You may be surprised to know that their name does not come from an official title, but from a nightclub in New York called “Blue Angel”!

First flights were a dangerous business! So much so that they secretly trained people not to know of any accidents!

The first aircraft flown by the Blue Angels were Grumman propeller aircraft such as the F6F Hellcat and F8F Bearcat… However, it did not take long for them to see the advantages of using jets instead, and from 1949 the Grumman Panther in 1949.

The age of the Blue Angels display team is amazing. Although there were only 6 Blue Angels aircraft at one time, there have been a total of 272 pilots in Blue Angels history who have worn the iconic blue flight suit, first adopted in 1954.

Over the next three decades, the Blue Angels would change from Grumman to many other aircraft types as you can see below…

To fly with the precision and speed of the Blue Angels, they always require the latest aviation technology. The list below presents several aircraft, which were state-of-the-art at the time.

Blue Angel Airplanes

The Grumman F6F Hellcat was considered one of the most successful fighters of the war. With its huge engines and flapping wings, it has shot down more fighter jets than any other plane on Earth! Launching from an aircraft carrier meant it was a natural choice as a demonstration aircraft for the Navy.

Although not the first aircraft flown by the Blue Angels, it was the first to bear their official name. This will be the last propeller aircraft of the Blue Angels.

In 1949, the Blue Angels entered the Jet Age! Unfortunately, the unit was disbanded for a time in 1950 as pilots were required for active service in the Korean War!

The "Cougar" was the first swept-wing jet operated by the Blue Angels. This aircraft has not been used for a long time. He flew as part of the Blue Angels from September 1956 to early 1957.

The Grumman F11F was an interceptor aircraft designed to fly very high and fast to combat potential bomber threats. The aircraft and its use were considered the "Golden Age of the Blue Angels". They would pilot until 1968! This will be the last Grumman aircraft of the Blue Angels.

Blue Angel And Thunderbird Wallpaper

The F4 Phantom played a major role in the Cold War and the Vietnam War. These displays were shown by the team around the world in Asia, Europe and South America. It would begin an almost 30-year association with the Blue Angels and McDonnell Douglas!

The Skyhawk was fast and highly maneuverable (which the demo team needed!) and was first used in 1974. He went on to serve the Blue Angels for another 12 years!

This was the beginning of what most people classically associate with the Blue Angels. The F/A18, with its swept-back wings and twin tails, has become an iconic classic. Flying up to 700 mph (even during a parade) gives the phrase "blink, and you'll miss it" a whole new meaning.

Bird strikes cost airlines worldwide more than $1 billion annually. Although most of them are reported to be harmless, we cannot rule out the danger they pose to aircraft.

Bird Strike Airplane

Bird Strike Airplane

The ability to take to the skies must still be considered man's greatest achievement. But who would have thought that our winged companions would be the biggest danger in flight, giving rise to the idea of amazing engineering. Bird strikes are by far the most potent threat to aviation worldwide. Witness the infamous engine failure of a US Airways flight that had to land on the Hudson River after 2 geese managed to destroy two of its engines.

Utah Jazz Make Emergency Landing After Plane Collides With Birds

A survey conducted by ICAO using data from 91 countries found that airlines encounter an average of 34 birds a day. The loss, if monetized, is more than $1 billion annually. A comforting fact, however, is that almost 92 percent of airstrikes occur without causing any damage.

Most modern engines should be able to feed a bird weighing about 1.8 kg at full power. They must do so at initial climb speed without starting a fire or making it impossible to shut down the engine. In addition to this, at least 50 percent of the electricity must go on for 14 minutes after the strike. This means that even if both engines are hit by large pieces, it can provide a combined thrust on at least one engine that is enough to return to the airport.

Now there are some solutions that may seem obvious. Netting, for example, is the cheapest solution to the bird strike problem. However, a net at the inlet end also poses a major risk. At higher speeds, a 1.8 kg bird strikes with a force of 3,50,000N which damages the net and carries a high risk of entering the engine.

Among the solutions that work to the bird strike problem, a Purdue University study found that darkly painted airplanes attract more birds and thus increase the likelihood of bird strikes. The contrasting light shade blends into the sky and helps the birds fly away from the aircraft.

Also added to the list of solutions is a study done by the Japanese airline ANA which found that aircraft with their eyes drawn to the jet engine's spinner can be an effective way to scare away birds. To this end, 26 Boeing aircraft from the airline's fleet placed samples on the engines. Surprisingly, the method works. The patterned aircraft had only one bird strike compared to 9 for the conventional aircraft during the same period.

The location of the airport also plays a large role in the number of birds that pose a threat to the runways. For example, we can note that the number of bird strikes at Munich Airport is much greater than the number of incidents at London Airport. The main driver that separates the two is location. Munich Airport, which has a fairly large land area, attracts more birds. Meanwhile, London's airport, surrounded by skyscrapers, poses a bit of a problem in this regard.

Speaking of location, food sources near airports can also be a major contributing factor to the number of bird strikes. The crash landing of a Ural Airlines Airbus flight in a cornfield in Moscow was caused by a bird strike. But the blame was soon placed on the illegal dumping of garbage on the outskirts of the airport which attracted more birds. Therefore, any method that discourages nesting and feeding conditions for birds will be an effective way to reduce the number of bird strikes. For example, the grass in and around the airport cannot be very short which will attract more birds. However, the grass should not be too long as it can attract insects which attract small birds.

Bird Strike Airplane

Another attractive factor for birds is the airport reservoir. It can be covered with netting to keep birds away. Apart from this, there are two ways to keep birds away. Many airports use methods such as decoy drones that look like or imitate predators. Other methods also include pointing lasers and firing flares to keep birds out.

A bird strike—sometimes called a bird strike, bird strike (for Gin), bird hit, or risk of bird strike (bash)—is a collision between an airborne animal (usually a bird or a bat).

And a moving vehicle, usually an aircraft. Power lines, towers and wind turbines (see Bird-skyscraper collision and towerkill).

Most accidents occur when a bird (or birds) collides with a windshield or enters the stairwell of a jet plane. That equates to an annual loss of $400 million

Sarasota Bradenton Airport: Flight To Akron Grounded After Bird Strike

In addition to property damage, human-made structures and traffic-bird collisions are contributing factors to the global decline of many bird species.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) received 65,139 bird strike reports for 2011–14, and the Federal Aviation Administration counted 177,269 wild strike reports on civil aircraft between 1990 and 2015, a 520% increase from 38,201. The percentage was birds 97%.

However, bird strikes have also been reported at higher altitudes, some at 6,000 to 9,000 meters (20,000 to 30,000 ft) above the ground. Bar-headed geese fly as high as 10,175 meters (33,383 ft) above sea level. An aircraft crashed in Rappel's Vulture at an altitude of 11,300 m (37,100 ft) in Côte d'Ivoire, the shortest bird altitude.

Most bird strikes occur near or at airports (90%, according to ICAO) during take-off, landing and related phases. According to the 2005 FAA Wildlife Hazard Management Manual, less than 8% of strikes occur above 900 m (3,000 ft) and 61% are below 30 m (98 ft).

Dyess Crewmembers Awarded After Bird Strikes Aircraft Midflight

The point of impact is usually any forward part of the vehicle, such as the leading edge of the wing, nose cone, jet cowling, or nose.

Jet gen insertion is critical due to the gen fan rotation speed and gen design. When a bird hits a fan blade, that blade can be displaced into another blade, causing a cascading failure. Jet gins are particularly vulnerable during the take-off phase when the gin is moving very fast and the aircraft is at low altitude where birds are more common.

The force of the impact on the plane depends on the weight of the animal and the difference in speed and direction at the point of impact. The impact energy increases with the square of the speed difference. Similar to jet aircraft, high-speed collisions can cause extensive vehicle damage and catastrophic failure. A 5 kg (11 lb) bird moving at a relative speed of 275 km/h (171 mph) has about the same energy as a 100 kg (220 lb) bird falling from a height of 15 meters (49 ft) .

Bird Strike Airplane

However, according to the FAA, only 15% of strikes (ICAO 11%) damage the aircraft.

Explained What Are Bird Strikes And How Dangerous Are They

Bird strikes can damage vehicle components or injure passengers. Flocks of birds are particularly dangerous and can cause multiple blows with associated injuries. Depending on the damage, the aircraft may not recover in time at low altitude or between takeoff and landing.

US Airways Flight 1549 is a classic example of this. The jeans on the Airbus A320 used during that flight were torn by several low-altitude bird strikes. The airport was unable to make a safe landing, forcing a water landing in the Hudson River.

There are identification sites where forensic techniques can be used to identify the species involved. These samples should be taken carefully by trained personnel

birthday airplane cake

Birthday Airplane Cake - This weekend I baked cupcakes and cupcakes in celebration of two very special boys - my nephew and my friend's new nephew. They weren't what I wanted, but I got a chance to make them and make their party even sweeter.

For my nephew, we were celebrating his third birthday! My sister bravely took on a house full of kids, so I decided to help out by baking and bringing a cake. I know a lot of kids these days are overwhelmed with so many things, so I hope the gift of my time and talent to make his birthday cake will be worth more than another toy.

Max uses cars, planes and anything that moves. Last year I made her a construction themed cake, so this year I decided to go with an Airplane theme and made a simple blue cake with white clouds and a dust toy as a topper.

Mountain Airplane Cake

The cake was finished off with a cheap paper banner flying behind Dust and a "3" candle from the Dollar Store.

My fluffy white clouds around the sides slipped in transit, but that was easily fixed and overall I was happy with the finished cake. Max couldn't wait to get into it and my husband had two pieces so I must have done something right!

For the flavors, I kept things simple and both cupcakes were chocolate cupcakes topped with a banana cheese flavored filling. As you can see below, my second cake had a monkey theme, so bananas seemed appropriate. I added some Skor bits to my grandkids cake for good measure and they added a nice crunch.

I was lucky: 2 of the cakes were for boys, which meant I could use the same blueberry frosting and save time (and dirty dishes!) mixing the buttercream.

Pilot Colby On An Airplane Cake

The second cake was for my friend's baby shower to celebrate her new niece. When she asked me to make her a cake, I was a bit hesitant because I still don't feel that my cake making skills are good enough to pay anyone. I had made a cake for my daughter's birthday in May and it turned out amazing, so I recommended a style that I was sure I could pull off.

I asked my friend to take a photo of the finished cake, but unfortunately she forgot her camera and got busy, so a quick iPhone photo of the finished cake will have to do unfortunately. The cake was only 6 inches round, so I also baked 2 dozen cakes to make sure she had enough for all her shower guests.

To finish off the cake, I designed a cute paper monkey doily and blocks that spelled out the baby's last name. For the cake, I added the same monkey to two separate paper plates hot glued to strips of lined paper to stick together. Well, let's get this straight. Someone on this blog team hasn't decorated a cake with fondant in over a year.

But, my little nieces birthday is coming up, my mother-in-law wanted to throw a fun themed party, and a butter cake was a no go. So I pulled out my pin and crossed my fingers that I wouldn't throw away too much of this cake. It's not a good idea to let your decorating skills sit still.

The bottom of the cake was made of styrofoam, so it was easy to make ahead of time and transport (my mother-in-law lives in about 2 hours). I think in most cases we only need one layer of cake and the rest is usually wasted, so I prefer to use a styrofoam layer. And later you can wash and dry the fondant and use it again.

Everything on the cake (in terms of decoration) is fondant except for the text on the flag and the clouds made with royal icing. I drew the bird (similar to the one shown on the invitations) on paper, cut it out and used it as a pencil to cut the bird from the background.

The cake was just a small part of this well-planned celebration. My very crafty mother-in-law, Susie, has started her own blog and is sharing all the details in her first post. So go HERE and give that lady some love! You'll find lots of pictures and all the links and information about beautiful box gift boxes, water bottle labels and more. of users. Latest version.

A C-7 Caribou was flown to a museum in 1992. While tracing history, I discovered that the plane was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Museum volunteer Col. Bill Hardy researched flight logs from his time in Cam Ranh Bay and discovered that he and the plane were old friends.

In Vietnam, reindeer were used to resupply domestic fighting forces because of their unique ability to fly in and out of camps on short, unimproved airstrips. The museum building has been restored to its Vietnamese-era appearance. In addition to service in Vietnam, this C-7 also served with the Army's Golden Knights Parachute Team.

The C-7 is used to transport people and materials in forward areas where short, unprepared strips are common. They are fully equipped instrument aircraft although they almost always operate according to visual flight rules (VFR) or "special VFR". Typical cargoes are fuel (fuel, diesel fuel, and JP-4), munitions (small arms ammunition, 2.75-inch anti-air rockets, 105 mm, 155 mm, 175 mm, and 8-inch howitzer projectiles), food (which varies greatly from American steak and chicken), In 1971, most of the C-7's destination airfields were along the borders of South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, and firefighting buses or special forces outposts (US, ARVN, and Montagnard) reindeer were transported daily from sunrise to sunset in the heat and humidity, dust and mud. From the lowlands of Vietnam's Mekong Delta to the towering mountains of the Central Highlands.

The C-7 can accommodate up to 32 passengers, 26 fully equipped paratroopers, 20 patients or 8,740 pounds of cargo.

The first three C-26Bs were purchased later in the 1980s, two for the US Army and one for the USAF. These three were built as SA227-BC models. Later C-26Bs were the military equivalent of the Metra 23, and the USAF took delivery of 37 examples. Some of these were transferred to the Peruvian Air Force and US Army, while six were transferred to the US Navy as C-26Ds.

Instead of flying large numbers of passengers at once with behemoth planes, smaller, more fuel-efficient planes offer more flights to more places.

However, the world's largest plane isn't going away anytime soon. The largest passenger aircraft ever built - and will continue to fly for years to come - commercial freighters and military transports continue to reach new heights (and length, wingspan and weight).

Meet Our New And Improved Fleet

These aircraft are marvels of modern engineering, ranging from purpose-built jets built to transport parts for new types of aircraft, to double-decker aircraft that can carry more passengers.

The largest aircraft in the world, only one of these jumbo cargo jets was ever built. It first flew in December 1988 and is still in service today.

Biggest Commercial Airplanes

The Stratolaunch is a distinctive aircraft with six engines, a twin fuselage and the longest aircraft wingspan in history, which is 385 feet.

Boeing's Long Road To Commercial Recovery

Stratolaunch, which first flew in April 2019, will be a flight launch platform for rockets into orbit.

The A330-743L, or affectionately known as the "Beluga XL," is based on Airbus' A330-200 aircraft, but has been significantly modified to transport oversized cargo, such as parts for smaller aircraft. It first flew in July 2018 and is expected to enter regular service by 2020.

The Airbus A300-600ST (Super Transporter) or "Beluga" was the predecessor of the Beluga XL, designed to replace the aging original. It first flew in September 1994, and all five jets built are still in service today. It is shorter and narrower than the Beluga XL and cannot carry as heavy a load.

The Airbus A380 is Airbus' modern answer to Boeing's famous 747, the largest aircraft ever built. Depending on the seating arrangement, the plane can carry up to around 850 passengers, but is usually closer to 575 or more.

Airbus's New Model Will Know When You've Unbuckled Your Seatbelt

The aircraft, which entered commercial service in 2007, represents Airbus' bet that a "hub-and-spoke" model will be the future of commercial air travel.

However, Airbus has announced that production of the A380 will end in 2021, as airlines increasingly lean towards offering more frequent direct point-to-point flights using smaller, more fuel-efficient aircraft.

The 747-8 is the latest and largest version of Boeing's popular 747. The first -8 flew in 2010, entered cargo service in 2011 and passenger service in 2012. The three-class configuration can carry up to 467 passengers and has a range of more than 8,000 nautical miles.

Biggest Commercial Airplanes

The Antonov An-124 is commonly used in cargo and military air transport. It first flew in 1982 and is one of the largest military aircraft ever built.

Everything You Need To Know About The 6 Biggest Commercial Engine Manufacturers

The An-22 first flew in 1965 and remains the largest turboprop ever built. Civilian cargo and military transport aircraft, only a few aircraft are still in service, most of them are in service with the Russian Air Force.

The -600 variant of the venerable A340 was the longest commercial aircraft until 2010, when the Boeing 747-8 claimed that title - it is even longer than the Airbus A380. It first flew in 2001 and can carry 379 passengers in a typical three-class layout.

The Dreamlifter is built on a modified larger 747-400 airframe. It is used to transport parts for Boeing 787 aircraft from parts suppliers to Boeing assembly plants.

The Galaxy C-5 is a military transport aircraft that first flew in 1968. It is used to support military operations around the world and deliver humanitarian aid and assistance during evacuations.

Which Passenger Aircraft Have The Biggest Wingspan?

The Tupolev Tu-160 is the largest and heaviest fighter currently flying. The aircraft, which first flew in 1981 but did not enter service until 1987, is flown entirely by the Russian Air Force, which pioneered flight more than a century ago. In fact, the wingspan of these planes alone is wider than the entire distance of 120 feet that the Wright Brothers flew.

The idea that engineers have built machines of this magnitude that can exploit the laws of physics is nothing short of amazing and continues to fascinate aviation enthusiasts around the world.

Originally developed to transport the Soviet Buran space shuttle, the An-225 is owned and operated by Antonov Aviation and is used to transport oversized and extremely heavy equipment such as steam generators and transformers high voltage power.

Biggest Commercial Airplanes

Airbus mistakenly believed that superjumbos would bring huge long-term profits to passenger airlines. But new designs of twin-engine transport class aircraft with highly efficient engines have reduced the viability of these double-decker wonders. Production ends in 2021 after 251 A380s have been produced. Emirates, British Airways and Singapore Airlines are among the few airlines that continue to operate them.

World's Biggest Plane, Stratolaunch, Marks Another Key Milestone

Boeing's initial iteration of the iconic jumbo jet, the 747-100, was the world's first double-decker, entering service with Pan Am in 1970. Earning the nickname "Queen of the Sky," the 747 transformed its own the airline industry, making international travel possible for the middle class for the first time. Over 1,500 were built in multiple variants. The last 747 - a 747-8F freighter - is due for delivery in 2022.

The idea behind Boeing's 777X program was to produce a larger twin-engine aircraft without having to start from a completely new design. (The original 777-200 first flew in 1994.) What sets these new planes apart are their huge, lightweight carbon-fiber wings, which allow for increased range while using less of fuel.
